Herpa 537995 Braniff International 727-100 – Solid Light Sky Blue – registration N7272 – already available
„One of Braniff’s original eight “solid” or popularly-called “jelly bean” colors, Light Sky Blue was an extremely rare color: The rather pale blue color quickly looked washed-out and faded, resulting in the aircraft being repainted rather quickly. N7272 was the first Sky Blue aircraft to be delivered. Most images that exist today are of this aircraft as it was used for the on-delivery photo shoot by Boeing back in July 1966.“

On January 24 and 25, 2026, the FMO Modelltag will take place in the terminal of Münster/Osnabrück Airport.
„Inside the small models – outside the big planes. There are also fire departments, trucks, ships and much more. You can marvel at, buy and swap. Everything to do with airplanes, aviation and model making.“
“New event” is actually not correct, as there have already been 11 FMO Model Days up to 2019 – also organized by Alexander Ludger.
I wish the event every success! It’s great that there is once again a meeting place for model aircraft collectors in North Rhine-Westphalia! Especially as the MGL/CGN convention is still on hold 😉

Herpa 538138 Aeronica Tu-154M – registration YN-CBT „Momotombo“ – already available
„The political and revolutionary turmoil that engulfed Nicaragua during the Cold War also greatly affected the country’s commercial aviation. Having ruled the Central American nation for decades, the Somoza Family was ousted by the revolutionary Sandinistas in 1979. This also led to the shutdown of the country’s flag carrier, LANICA, which was majority-owned by the ruling Somoza family. The Junta then in power, formed Aerolíneas Nicaraguenses S.A., branded as Aeronica, as its successor in 1981. Due to an international embargo which made it increasingly impossible to keep LANICA’s fleet of Boeing aircraft airworthy due to lack of spares, the airline turned to Soviet-built aircraft to bolster its international routes. Named for one of the largest volcanoes of the country, Momotombo, the factory-new TU-154M arrived in Managua on December 20th, 1989. For a little over two years, she was a frequent visitor to Mexico City as well as other cities throughout Latin America. Following the end of the civil war and reelections in 1992 which again brought with it political and economic changes, the airline was shut down. “Momotombo” with her unusual and colorful livery was grounded and parked at Managua International Airport before finally being purchased by Russia’s Omskavia in 1997, and later again being sold on to Mahan Air of Iran where she saw use at least until the year 2005.“

A few months ago, two ANA Star Wars models were released by JC Wings:
– PX5005 ANA 777-300ER Star Wars BB-8 registration JA789A
– PX5007 ANA 777-300ER Star Wars C-3PO registration JA743A
I noticed two different variants of the PX5005 model.
The difference in the models is limited to the printing in the front area of the fuselage.
However, the blue and red tones of the packaging are completely different.
Model PX5007 does not seem to have such differences.

Herpa 537179 Starlux Airlines A330-900 – registration B-58301 – special box – with stand – available soon
„Following first production runs of the Airbus A321 exclusively for Starlux, the still young Taiwanese airline is expanding its 1/500 scale model fleet with the A330-900neo. Four A330-900neos are currently part of the all-Airbus fleet, three additional aircraft have recently been ordered to further expand passenger capacities, primarily on routes in Asia. We are pleased that a small partial quantity of these A330neo models, which are otherwise only available through Starlux in Taiwan, can now be offered through the Herpa Club. The models have received quite a special packaging design, a display stand is also included.“
About a year after the launch of the new online Herpa Club, the first club model for Wings collectors will finally be released in August 2024! For me a very good choice, a good addition to the two existing or announced Starlux models 🙂

Herpa Wings metal models in 1:500 have been available since 1992, but the first attempts at plastic models in 1:500 – in addition to the large 1:200 plastic models of the Lufthansa Model Edition – were already made at the end of the 1980s.
However, these 747-100/200 plastic models (with flat red packaging) never made it past the prototype stage. Only samples of a few airlines were produced. According to information from Herpa there were 4 different versions, according to the DIMA database 9, but 5 of them without picture credits, in my collection there are unfortunately only 3 versions (see table).
According to Herpa, the molds from which these samples were made at the time no longer exist. They were converted for metal injection molding around 1990 and then used accordingly when Herpa started producing metal models in 1:500 scale.

Hello to all friends of the CGN-Convention!
In a little more than two weeks the 2nd CGN-Convention will start in the Motorworld Cologne!
The new location has caused a predominantly positive response at the 1st CGN-Convention!
Therefore, together with the team of Motorworld Cologne, we are looking forward to the second edition in October at the same location!
The organization and realization of the CGN-Convention is only sensible and affordable if there is sufficient interest, i.e. if there is a corresponding response from exhibitors and visitors!
Speaking of exhibitors: some tables are still available! If you are interested in a reservation, you will find the details below. Just a reminder that the table size has changed compared to the 1st convention!
All information for exhibitors and visitors can be found here
We are looking forward to your participation in October in Cologne!
Best regards
Peter, Markus & Mike

537094 UPS MD-11F – change of registration: „N265UP“ becomes „N275UP“
The reason is the use of different engines. The „265“ flies with General Electric engines, the new „275“ with Pratt & Whitney. Except for the one digit, the paint scheme remains unchanged.

The last on-site summer party in Dietenhofen took place in 2019. After three Corona-related cancellations and digital replacements, it was finally time again on Saturday. Pure sunshine, thousands of Herpa fans, a dedicated Herpa team, interviews and actions, a lot of show trucks and good catering were the time-tested setting for a successful day.

…
As always, the Wings collectors were of course in the minority. But they were very well looked after by the Wings product management.
Besides the SIA special model 529051-001 A350-900 9V-SJD (already mentioned here), there was the possibility to buy samples, which were never produced as a regular model (a few pictures will follow later) as well as „normal“ samples.
And in the store and in the museum some upcoming novelties were also „hidden“.

For almost 25 years I have used FrontPage as the basis for this website. But now – with change to Windows 11 – it’s really time for new technology.
Therefore I will move this website piece by piece to WordPress. It will surely take its time – and some rather static areas might not be moved as well, but only linked.
Until then – as far as still necessary – the contents of the old website are available via the menu at the top of this homepage.
Happy Collecting
Peter
